HISTORY OF OUR TEAMS- During our first year of inception, we received many requests to perform at events in Lubbock and beyond, but didn't have a dedicated group to do that. So, in 2008 we formed the ADVANCED PERFORMANCE TEAM

We heard through the grapevine about a competition in Atlanta THE JUNIOR THEATRE FESTIVAL and decided to try it out! We were the smallest team there (19 kids) and new to this experience. We performed 15 minutes from Godspell Jr. Mrs. Paula told the kids- "Let's just go have fun! We will return home winners if everyone says that group from Lubbock is so kind and so professional." We performed our piece, went to the amazing workshops and were having a great time. At the awards ceremony she said- "Let's give everyone a standing ovation!" As each top group was announced (6) we stood and clapped and shouted. We were so busy doing that we didn't realize that our name had been called! We got to perform on the big stage for the entire festival!
We continued to attend JTF for six more years bringing home awards every year! We won BEST ACTOR, BEST ACTRESS, OUTSTANDING IN MUSIC, OUTSTANDING IN ACTING, OUTSTANDING IN DANCE, STUDENT CHOREOGRAPHER AWARD AND FREDDIE G SPIRIT AWARD. The best year was when our Executive Director, Paula Chanda, was honored by being selected for the FREDDIE G OUTSTANDING TEACHER AWARD!!! She was flown to NYC and worked with Broadway professionals and met BERNADETTE PETERS!

The team continued to grow and performed all over Texas and in New York City. They worked with Disney Theatricals to workshop PETER PAN JR. and were the first group to perform this piece which is now available for licensing through Music Theatre International. They also workshopped Music Man Kids in NYC. They have performed annually at the Lubbock Arts Festival and have performed at Six Flags Over Texas.
After six years of attending the festival, we decided it had grown too big for us, so we turned our sites to NYC! We began working with Young Performers of America and in the spring they would meet us in Dallas and in the summer we would go to them. Our kids got to work with people like:

After a year break from having a competition team, in 2017, and after a great summer of camps full of talented younger kids, we decided to go back to our roots and formed the JR MUSICAL THEATRE COMPETITION TEAM. This team attended the Junior Theatre Festival West in Sacramento CA. In 2018 we are once again making a change and forming a Sr. Team which will travel to the Festival and our Jr. Team will travel to Disney!
